The pre-phylloxera Moneu variety, planted in 2020 in our vineyards, is reborn as a symbol of resilience and adaptation to modern times. With only 3,007 bottles, this wine is a statement of intent: innovation firmly rooted in our heritage.
The character of Moneu: authentic and surprising.
Moneu is an almost forgotten variety that speaks again with its own voice. On the nose, it is intense and expressive, offering notes of dark fruit with a spicy background. On the palate, it is smooth and luscious, with good concentration and a fresh, elegant, and genuine finish.
A wine to explore
MO-23 knows no boundaries: it’s versatile and daring. Perfect with oily fish, seafood, and rice dishes with fish or vegetables. Its freshness enhances goat cheeses, and its vibrant character makes it an ideal match for Asian cuisine, even in its spicier forms.
The essence of the vineyard: tradition and innovation united
This wine is born from La Serra vineyard, located in our Torrelavit estate and planted in 2020 on clay soils. There, each vine reflects the deep bond between viticultural tradition and the surrounding nature.
This vineyard perfectly embodies the spirit of the new MO-23: a wine with fresh characteristics that blend tradition and innovation in today’s wine world.
MO-23, crafted with care
Experimental MO-23 is made exclusively from Moneu grapes, a singular variety that allows us to explore new expressions. Harvest took place on September 7th, 2023, with careful selection of the bunches at their optimal ripeness.
Fermentation occurred in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 22 ºC for about nine days, preserving the wine’s freshness and varietal identity.
Afterwards, the wine aged for eleven months in 225-liter French oak barrels, gaining structure and complexity without losing the vibrant essence of Moneu. The result is a wine that combines innovation, authenticity, and the strength of our roots.
