VITIREGENERE: Regenerative viticulture to improve vineyard biodiversity and management.

The main objective of the project is to demonstrate and validate agronomic practices that contribute to regenerating the health and vitality of agricultural soils for a more sustainable winegrowing, under the concept of regenerative viticulture, improving the biodiversity of agriculture in general, and  of the soil in particular.

The specific objectives of this project are:

  • Improve the management of fertilizers and pesticides, with a gradual decrease in the products used on the vine.
  • Improve rainwater management and increase the capability to use rainwater.
  • Reduce to minimum or eliminate soil erosion and improve the management and use of soil.
  • Restore, preserve, and improve biodiversity (including microbial), the wine-growing ecosystem to better integrate it into surrounding ecosystems, and to protect the landscape value of the territory.

CONTRACTING OF A FIRST LEVEL CONTROLLER TO VALIDATE THE EXPENDITURE OF THE INTERREG SUDOE PROJECT “COPPEREPLACE” (REF: SOE4/P1/E100)

BASIC DETAILS OF THE PROJECT

  • Project Title: Development and full implementation of new technologies, products and strategies to reduce the application of copper in vineyards and to remedy contaminated soils in the SUDOE region.
  • Acronym: COPPEREPLACE
  • Objective: To validate a range of integrated, innovative and feasible solutions to reduce the use of copper and its environmental impact in viticulture. These solutions will be transferable and durable, so that the wine sector complies with the new European law, promoting environmentally friendly production.

PURPOSE OF THE CONTRACT

The purpose of the present contract is to lay down the general, economic and technical conditions for providing the external audit service for the first level control of the “COPPEREPLACE” project (Ref: SOE4/P1/E100 (INTERREG SUDOE) FOR JEAN LEON S.L.U. The content of the verification work shall be governed by the rules of the 2014-2020 European INTERREG V B (SUDOE) programme and shall cover the following: (i) the conformity of goods and services delivered with the approved project; (ii) the veracity of the declared expenditure on operations or parts of operations carried out; (iii) the approval of expenditure and operations, or parts of related operations, with community and national rules.

CONTRACT TERM

The service execution- period shall be between the day following the conclusion of the contract and the presentation of the final certificate of expenditure (initially) scheduled for the first quarter of 2023.

The contract term coincides with the years in which the auditor is to control expenditure: 2021, 2022 and 2023, and at least three expenditure verification reports should be performed in each of the three periods.

ESTIMATED BUDGET

The total estimated budget for this collaboration is €2,000 (+ VAT). However, the bidders may adjust their economic proposal downwards or upwards, depending on the human and material resources they require to completely fulfil the contract purpose.

Applying phytosanitary products using satellite mapping and evaluating potential improvements in the application process.

The main aim of this innovation project is for Jean Leon to variably apply phytosanitary products using crop maps generated by satellite, as well as to evaluate how such a variable application, achieved by means of a deflector in the sprayer, can improve the distribution of the phytosanitary products applied, determining the environmental impact (reduction in the products used and the carbon footprint) and also the economic consequences.

Financed by the Catalan government’s Department of Climate Action, Rural Agenda and Food.


LIFE IS LIGHT

The European LIFEisLIGHT project aims to demonstrate the effectiveness of stimulating plants with flashes of UV-C light to prevent cryptogamic diseases in the vineyard.

The consortium is formed by UVBoosting, the University of Toulouse, the University of Bordeaux, and Familia Torres. The trials will be done in the Familia Torres vineyards during two seasons.

Project funded by the European Commission’s LIFE programme.

FARMYNG

Production of proteins from insects for animal nutrition and fertilizers. The objective is to develop a large-scale, first-of-its-kind bio-based value chain producing sustainable, safe, and premium feed products from an innovative origin: the Tenebrio molitor insect (mealworm). Waste will be recovered to use as soil fertilizers.

Farmÿng is a consortium made up of 20 companies from eight countries. Familia Torres is participating in the project to study the viability of the fertilizers, which would have a lower carbon footprint than conventional fertilizers since they are a by-product.

Project developed in the framework of Horizon 2020 Public-Private Partnership Bio-Based Industries Joint Undertaking (topic BBI.2018.F2 – Large-scale production of proteins for food and feed applications from alternative, sustainable sources).
