We are very pleased to announce that two of our wines, the 3055 Petit Verdot- Merlot 2022 and the 3055 Chardonnay 2023, have been awarded a gold medal and a silver medal in the 58th edition of the Tastavins DO Penedès competition.
This competition is an annual competition that recognizes the best wines of the Penedès, assessed blind by a jury of wine professionals to promote the production of quality wines in the Penedès, rewarding the effort made by the wineries and positioning the DO Penedès as a great region of quality wines.
This year, we received a gold medal for our Jean Leon 3055 Petit Verdot- Merlot 2022, recognized as the best crianza red wine in the 58th edition of the Tastavins DO Penedès Competition. In addition, our 3055 Chardonnay 2023 received a silver medal.
The 3055 Petit Verdot- Merlot 2022 is one of the few DO Penedès wines made with the Petit Verdot variety, a slow-ripening variety that has adapted particularly well to hot, dry climates like ours. Since the 2020 vintage, it is the majority variety of the blend, which is complemented by the Merlot variety. The wine is fresh and intense, with aromas of cherry jam and notes of aromatic herbs with a spicy finish. The palate has a voluptuous entry, good concentration and a long, elegant finish.
On the other hand, the 3055 Chardonnay 2023 is an organic white wine that also presents great aromatic intensity and freshness, highlighting citrus notes of white fruit and pineapple. On the palate, it is elegant and with a balanced acidity.
