Fishop: a stylish fish shop in the heart of Barcelona

Clothing stores are definitely the main attraction as you head down Passeig de Gràcia toward Plaça Catalunya. Some are more luxurious than others, but if shopping is what you're after, this is the place.

If you're hungry or need a revitalizing snack to continue your shopping expedition, you'll find all kinds of restaurants flanking the avenue. Most of them are easy to spot. If the boldly displayed menus don't get your attention, the waiters announcing the specials definitely will. Fishop, however, is different.

The restaurant is located on the ground floor of the well-known Bulevard Rosa shopping center. It is a tucked-away gem of a gastronomic space on one of Barcelona's best-known avenues. Fishop defines itself as a new restaurant-fish shop concept that brings the best Mediterranean and Japanese flavors together under one roof.

The décor immediately catches the eye. Exquisitely conceived and carried out with taste, it is bound to pique anyone's curiosity. The décor reflects the character of the restaurant, which includes a sushi bar and a fish shop where top-quality product is not only a guarantee, but a matter of principle.

The place is made for people who like classic Mediterranean fare, enjoy an excellent fish and have a soft spot for Asian flavors. A fusion restaurant par excellence.

The interior's centerpiece is a typical display counter where fresh fish and shellfish—brought in daily from the Catalan fish markets and the Galician coast—wait impatiently on ice for customers to take them home or enjoy cooked-to-order seafood on site. The choice is theirs. They also get to pick the wine. Among the options: Jean Leon 3055 Chardonnay. A winning pick! :)

The sushi bar prepares exquisite nibbles for lovers of Japanese food. The bar serves food all day, giving customers the choice of a wide variety of creatively inspired sushi. You can also let the sushi chef surprise you with à la carte or personally customized options.
