When we uncork a bottle of wine, the moment becomes an experience for the senses. But what happens afterward with the elements that make it up? Corks, bottles, and boxes don’t have to end up in the trash; on the contrary, they can be transformed into creative, sustainable pieces with a second life.
At Jean Leon, we believe in the value of reuse and how small gestures can make a difference. That’s why, in this article, we offer inspiring ideas to give these materials a new use, whether in your home decor, DIY projects, or even in the world of gastronomy.
Discover how to reinvent these materials and continue enjoying wine differently!
1. Plate or tray with a recycled bottle
The idea of creating a plate or tray with a recycled wine bottle consists of transforming a glass bottle into an elegant container to serve appetizers, tapas, or even gourmet dishes. To achieve this, a thermoforming or glass fusion technique is used, which allows the bottle to be flattened or shaped.
At Jean Leon, we already have ours!
2. Side table

This idea involves creating tables using glass bottles as legs and wooden boards as the surface. It’s a sustainable and creative proposal that reuses wine or beer bottles of different sizes and colors to make functional furniture with a minimalist and eco-friendly design.
We’ve recycled the boxes from our Finca Wines and turned them into practical tables as well.
3. Wine boxes as furniture
Wine boxes, with their sturdy wood and rustic style, are perfect for creating a unique and functional organizer. With a bit of creativity, you can transform a wine box into a drawer or a small shelf to store keys, mail, or even small accessories. You just need to make a small opening or add hooks inside the box to hang keys. If you paint or line the box, you can give it a more personalized and elegant touch.

4. Birdhouses
A great way to recycle your corks is to build a birdhouse where local birds can rest. We have already built ours, with the goal of caring for and promoting the biodiversity of our estate.
5. Garden organizers
Create markers to identify plants in your garden or vegetable patch using recycled wine corks and wooden sticks. It’s a sustainable, decorative, and practical solution for organizing your herbs, vegetables, or flowers.

The next time you enjoy a glass of wine, remember that these small elements can have a new life. Reusing them and giving them your personal touch is not only fun, but it also adds a special and unique touch to your surroundings.
