From the birds that fly over the vineyards to the small insects that live among the leaves of the vines, to the mammals that roam the fields, Jean Leon and its surroundings is an interesting place for wildlife lovers.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Birds\u00a0<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The relationship between birds and vines is very close and of great importance in viticulture. Insectivorous birds help control the population of insects and other animals that can damage the vines and reduce the quantity of grapes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition, birds can contribute to soil fertility by depositing their droppings on the soil, which can improve the quality of nutrients available to plants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/jeanleon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/05-1-850x539.jpg\" alt=\"Fauna and flora\" class=\"wp-image-53559\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/jeanleon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/04-1-850x539.jpg\" alt=\"Fauna and flora\" class=\"wp-image-53563\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mammals\u00a0<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mammals can also play an important role in the vineyard ecosystem. For example, the fox is a natural predator that preys on rodents and other small animals that can be a threat to grapevines. By controlling the population of these animals, foxes help prevent vine damage and maintain healthy grape production.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the other hand, the red squirrel is a rodent that can be a bit more problematic for vineyards, as it can feed on the tender shoots of grapevines. Butterflies are important pollinators that help ensure a healthy production of high quality grapes. By feeding on the nectar of grapevine flowers, butterflies transfer pollen from one flower to another, allowing for fertilization and fruit production.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to their role as pollinators, butterflies are also indicators of ecosystem health.
