{"id":2787,"date":"2021-12-01T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-12-01T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jeanleon.com\/2021\/12\/01\/vinya-la-scala-gran-reserva-2015\/"},"modified":"2024-03-20T12:57:47","modified_gmt":"2024-03-20T12:57:47","slug":"vinya-la-scala-gran-reserva-2015","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jeanleon.com\/en\/vinya-la-scala-gran-reserva-2015\/","title":{"rendered":"Vinya La Scala Gran Reserva 2015 is dressed with the art of Josep Guinovart"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><strong>Wine and art are intertwined again in the new vintage of our historic Cabernet Sauvignon Gran Reserva.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We announce the launch of the 2015 vintage of <a href=\"https:\/\/jeanleon.com\/vinos\/vinya-la-scala\/\">Vinya La Scala Cabernet Sauvignon Gran Reserva<\/a>, the icon wine of our winery that is made only in those years in which the harvest is <strong>exceptional<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Wine and art<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This wine has always been closely linked to the world of <strong>art<\/strong>. Through its labels, which reproduce works by renowned artists, this vintage pays tribute to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.macba.cat\/es\/arte-artistas\/artistas\/a-z\/guinovart-josep\">Josep Guinovart<\/a>, a painter, draftsman and printmaker from Barcelona who died in 2007 and is considered one of the leading representatives of <a href=\"https:\/\/masdearte.com\/movimientos\/informalismo\/\">informality<\/a>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The work that illustrates the label is entitled \u201c<strong>Els ceps i la nit<\/strong>\u201d (\u201cThe vines and the night\u201d). It is a painting that captivates with its fabulous range of greens and ochre and its old twisted vines, evoking a vineyard that delves into the deep blue of the night while the moon, like a beacon, illuminates the steps.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Elaboration<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is certified as &#8216;<a href=\"http:\/\/incavi.gencat.cat\/ca\/coneix-vi-catala\/vins-finca-qualificada\/\">Vi de Finca<\/a>&#8216;, the <strong>highest distinction <\/strong>awarded by the Generalitat de Catalunya. This historic organic cabernet sauvignon comes from a small 8-hectare plot planted in 1963 on clay-calcareous soils, at an altitude of 295 meters, in the heart of the Pened\u00e8s. The 2015 vintage was characterized by a dry vegetative cycle and normal temperatures, with a cold ripening period. Thanks to these conditions, the grapes will ripen slowly, favouring a good balance and elegance.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-50285\" src=\"https:\/\/jeanleon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Nuevo-proyecto-copia-2-850x540.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The wine is aged in French oak barrels for a minimum of 24 months, with subsequent bottle aging for a minimum of 3 years. From this vintage, <a href=\"https:\/\/jeanleon.com\/vinos\/vinya-la-scala\/\">12,209 bottles<\/a> have been produced. It is also available in an elegant, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.petitceller.com\/ca\/vi\/negre\/jean-leon-vinya-la-scala-gran-reserva-t0111-15\">limited-production matching wooden case<\/a>, making it an <strong>ideal gift for wine and art lovers this Christmas season<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">History<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jean Leon Vinya La Scala, named after the restaurant, run by Jean Leon in Beverly Hills, was the <strong>first wine<\/strong> made mainly from cabernet sauvignon in Spain in 1969.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another milestone was marked by the 1975 vintage, which was chosen for the <strong>official inauguration dinner of Ronald Reagan<\/strong> as president of the United States in 1981.
