Today, we\u2019d like to introduce you to a new collection focused on the Pened\u00e8s and the indigenous varieties of our region. This is our new Nativa range, which we debuted with an organic Xarel\u00b7lo from the 2019 vintage. To illustrate the label, we opted for traditional Catalan tiles as an homage to the land our founder chose to build his winery and start producing his wines.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our first wine from the collection is limited production and made entirely from Xarel\u00b7lo grapes, the most representative white variety of the Pened\u00e8s. This hardy variety is drought and heat resistant and perfectly adapted to the region, yielding balanced, high-quality harvests.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With the new 2019 Jean Leon Xarel\u00b7lo, we aim to capture the essence of the Pened\u00e8s and show off its uniqueness with a wine that\u2019s fresh and young in style, but also intensely aromatic. This wine comes from a vineyard planted on chalky clay soil at an altitude of 225 meters, and on the nose, it has predominant aromas of citrus, fennel, and nutmeg, with underlying notes of white fruit. On the palate, it\u2019s crisp and clean upon entry, with a delicate and persistent finish softened by its volume and creaminess, a result of the time spent on lees and the small percentage aged in acacia barrels for three months.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Catalan tile<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As you know, our labels always have a story behind them. This time, we were inspired by the traditional Catalan tiles dating back to the 17<sup>th<\/sup> to 19<sup>th<\/sup> centuries, a period when the Pened\u00e8s saw an expansion of its vineyards and a flourishing wine trade. For the first wine from the Nativa range, we chose the \u201cwind rose,\u201d a pattern whose eight points symbolize the direction of the winds.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-43582\" src=\"https:\/\/jeanleon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/xarelo_interior.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This wine is currently available to buy via our <a href=\"http:\/\/anws.co\/bHGs3\/%7b4917a240-4af7-4e89-acb1-170ae6e132b2%7d\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">online<\/a> channels, and at a later date it will be available in restaurants and specialty stores.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Why not give it a try?<\/p>\r\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We\u2019re getting April underway with something new that we launched last month, just as we were saying goodbye to winter and welcoming spring (although not in the way that we would have liked).
