There\u2019s always a subjective slant to every tasting. Every wine lover, winemaker, or sommelier has their own preferences, tastes, or sensations when it comes to a glass of wine. There may even be a wine that one person doesn\u2019t like at all, but another finds incredible. That\u2019s the great thing about the world of wine. \u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Still, there are more objective ways to classify wines by referring to their sensory qualities. For years now, well-regarded wine guides have been publishing rankings and scores to distinguish the best from the rest. Every year, the entire wine industry waits with bated breath for these classifications. Being among the top ranked or securing a high score is definitely good news for wineries since it represents an accolade for a job well done and, at the same time, recognition from industry specialists.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A few months ago, the four most prestigious Spanish wine guides published their scores. At Jean Leon, we were waiting to see how our Single Vineyard Wines would fare, and the truth is that we achieved results that make us very proud of our wines and the great work of the entire team that\u2019s behind them. To give you some context, the highest score given to a wine is 99 points, so, in the four classifications we got really outstanding scores, which we\u2019d like to share with you:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Jean Leon Vinya La Scala Cabernet Sauvignon Gran Reserva 2012<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Gu\u00eda Gourmets stands out for awarding <a href=\"https:\/\/jeanleon.com\/vinos\/vinya-la-scala\/\">Vinya La Scala<\/a> a total of 97 points for the 2012 vintage. It is, without a doubt, an excellent score for our most iconic wine, made exclusively using Cabernet Sauvignon grapes from the old vines planted by Jean Leon in 1963 on the small 8-hectare Vinya La Scala plot.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-41255\" src=\"https:\/\/jeanleon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/ganador_JL_FINAL-03-850x445.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Jean Leon Vinya Le Havre Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva 2013<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br \/>Our <a href=\"https:\/\/jeanleon.com\/vinos\/vinya-le-havre\/\">Vinya Le Havre<\/a> also achieved great scores, in particular, the 94 points awarded by the Gu\u00eda Proensa. It\u2019s a brilliant score for one of our Single Vineyard Wines made with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc grapes that come from the 16-hectare plot of the same name.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-41259\" src=\"https:\/\/jeanleon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/ganador_JL_FINAL-01-850x445.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Jean Leon Vinya Palau Merlot 2015<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/jeanleon.com\/vinos\/vinya-palau-merlot\/\">Vinya Palau<\/a> Merlot also got an outstanding score from the Gu\u00eda Proensa: 96 points for this single-variety organic wine grown on a small 10-hectare plot with vines planted in 1991.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-41263\" src=\"https:\/\/jeanleon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/ganador_JL_FINAL-04-850x445.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Jean Leon Vinya Gigi Chardonnay <\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Finally, our <a href=\"https:\/\/jeanleon.com\/vinos\/vinya-gigi-chardonnay\/\">Vinya Gigi<\/a> also scored above 90 points. All the guides gave it great scores, but the highest was from the Gu\u00eda Gourmets: 94 points for one of Spain\u2019s first Chardonnays and the first to be barrel fermented.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-41267\" src=\"https:\/\/jeanleon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/ganador_JL_FINAL-02-850x445.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ultimately, our Single Estate Wines have once again this year received rave reviews from Spain\u2019s specialist wine guides.
