We\u2019ve been rediscovering this snack for a while now, and it\u2019s currently one of the trendiest around. Plus, it\u2019s also considered healthier than many other popular snacks. Maybe some of you think popcorn is boring, though. Well, think again! To add something extra to your snack time or movie nights, here are some original and sophisticated recipes that you can pair with wine to take the experience of sharing a bowl of popcorn to the next level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Let’s get popping!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
To get the base,\nin other words, the popped corn in all its bright white glory, you have some\ndifferent options to choose from. The most practical is the traditional\nmicrowave-ready bag or a brown paper bag that you\u2019ve filled with popcorn\nkernels (between a quarter and half a spoonful, depending on the size of the\nbag). For the traditionalists out there, there\u2019s the classic pan on the stove method,\nwhich lets you play with the flavor of the popcorn by changing the basic oil\nused in the preparation, for example, sunflower, avocado, coconut… Or, if\nyou\u2019re not afraid of cholesterol, you could also try bacon fat, butter, or duck\nfat. The more avant-garde among you are bound to be equipped with the new home\nmachines that pop the corn using hot air: the miniature version of the kind of\nmachines you find in movie theaters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Curry corn<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
Bid farewell to the mid-January post-holiday blues by giving your popcorn an exotic and spicy twist. Melt butter or heat oil in a pan. Add a handful of raisins and pistachios, a couple of tablespoons of sugar and one tablespoon of curry powder. Let the mixture cook for a couple of minutes and after removing it from the heat source, pour it over the popcorn and mix well to ensure the popcorn is fully coated. A fresh white wine like Jean Leon 3055 will pair perfectly with this far-from-ordinary version of popcorn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Herbes de provence ans cheese<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
Definitely the easiest recipe for flavoring popcorn, this one is simple and delicious. Just grind a good amount of herbes de Provence (the herb mix you can easily find in any supermarket) using a mortar and pestle to make a coarse powder. Put the popcorn in a plastic or paper bag with the herbs, add a little olive oil, and shake lovingly. Without taking anything out of the bag, add powdered cheese (even better if it\u2019s Parmesan) and shake again to coat the popcorn, then pour out into a bowl. Porcini and gruy\u00e8re<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
Popcorn with red wine? Definitely! With a glass of Jean Leon 3055 3055 Merlot-Petit Verdot, mushroom lovers can discover a pairing of the most delectable variety. Blitz some dried porcini mushrooms in a blender until a powder has formed. Add parsley and coarse salt and pulse another couple of times. Put the popcorn in a plastic or paper bag with the porcini powder, add a little olive oil, and shake lovingly. If you\u2019d like, you can add a little grated Gruy\u00e8re cheese, too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
