Previously we&#8217;ve posted about movies and shows where wine plays a starring role.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today we&#8217;re taking a look at characters from successful TV shows and their connection to wine. You\u2019ve probably thought of someone by now!<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Angela Channing (Falcon Crest)<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-32073\" src=\"https:\/\/jeanleon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/1-AngelaChanning-850x477.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Let&#8217;s start with a classic. The Oscar-winning actress <strong>Jane Wyman<\/strong> played <strong>Angela<\/strong> <strong>Channing<\/strong> on the legendary American soap <strong><em>Falcon Crest<\/em><\/strong>. Similar shows like <em>Dallas<\/em> or <em>Dynasty<\/em> might have been bigger hits in the US, but <em>Falcon Crest<\/em> did very well in Spain, where the villain, driven by her love for vineyards and her desire to maintain control over the family business, is remembered to this day. Clearly she always had the best wine at her fingertips, but power is what she really loved about it.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Olivia Pope (Scandal)<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-32079\" src=\"https:\/\/jeanleon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/2-OliviaPope-850x479.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>Scandal<\/em><\/strong> celebrated its finale in April 2018 after six years on the air and seven seasons in which <strong>Olivia Pope<\/strong> (Kerry Washington) always had a deep connection to <strong>wine<\/strong>. She not only liked it, but\u2014in a life constantly exposed to the darkest secrets of Washington DC\u2014she used it as a remedy, even a \u201cweapon,\u201d to get what she wanted. A curious detail: Pope always sipped from long-stemmed glasses.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Claire Dunphy (Modern Family)<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-32097\" src=\"https:\/\/jeanleon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/3-ClaireDunphy-850x566.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Truth be told, all members of TV&#8217;s most \u201cmodern\u201d family (minus the children) are into wine. Family reunions, friendly get-togethers, social events&#8230;the main characters always end up with a glass of wine to celebrate an occasion or alleviate distress. Pictured above, <strong>Claire<\/strong> <strong>Dunphy<\/strong> (Julie Bowen) proves that wine can be enjoyed anywhere, even in the laundry room.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Penny (The Big Bang Theory)<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-32085\" src=\"https:\/\/jeanleon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/4-Penny-850x595.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The show&#8217;s characters live in California, a wine state, and <strong>Penny <\/strong>(Kaley Cuoco), the female lead, truly loves <strong>white wine<\/strong>.\u00a0 In fact, it is such a defining character trait, we even know her favorite variety: <strong>Sauvignon Blanc<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Tyrion Lannister (Game of Thrones)<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-32091\" src=\"https:\/\/jeanleon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/5-Tyrion-850x480.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If we&#8217;re going to talk about TV shows, we have to mention GOT, touted as \u201cthe best show in history\u201d even before the release of its final episode. In <em>Game of Thrones<\/em>, <strong>wine<\/strong> is almost like another character, especially when it comes to the Lannisters. Rarely do we see<strong> Tyrion<\/strong> (Peter Dinklage) or his sister <strong>Cersei<\/strong> (Lena Headey) without a goblet in hand. And let&#8217;s not forget that a cup of poisoned <strong>wine<\/strong> brought about one of the most dramatic deaths in the entire show.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We&#8217;ll leave it at that to avoid any spoilers, but, did you notice these characters\u2019 fondness for wine?
