It\u2019s time for outdoor plans, having fun with the family on vacation, and taking full advantage of the long evenings. Below, you\u2019ll find a selection of activities to give you some ideas for what to do over the next few months in the Pened\u00e8s. While this is a region known for its wine, there\u2019s also lots of culture, music, and tradition to discover.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-22751\" src=\"https:\/\/jeanleon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/vijazz1-850x567.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"850\" height=\"567\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ll start off with the <u>ViJazz Festival<\/u>, an event that\u2019s already become a summertime favorite in the Pened\u00e8s. It\u2019s held every year from July 6-8 in Vilafranca del Pened\u00e8s, and 2018 will be the 12<sup>th<\/sup> edition. Organized by Tastavins Pened\u00e8s, it has established itself as one of the best music competitions in its genre and it has more than proven that it\u2019s worthy of its place among the world\u2019s top jazz festivals: The fact that its lineup features some of the biggest names on the international scene are testament to this. A real treat that we have the honor of participating in with our wines! \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Introducci\u00f3 del Parc - Catalan\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/SW4VbEvgnfo?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Something else that\u2019s worth a visit is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eljardidelsocells.com\/cat\/\">The Bird Gardens<\/a>, an ecological park that\u2019s perfect for a day out with the family right near Vilafranca. This is without a doubt the ideal spot for lovers of birds and animals in general.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Pr\u00e9ssec d\u00b4Ordal\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Jv0iPWQgpZM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>We leave Vilafranca to tell you about an activity related to the cuisine and wonderful products our region provides to us. It\u2019s the <strong><u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pressecdordal.cat\/\">Ordal Peach Market, <\/a><\/u><\/strong>which opens in early June in Pla\u00e7a de Subirats and can be visited every Saturday and Sunday in June, July, and August. You can buy real Ordal peaches and other local products like honey, jellies, and olive oil in this town square. This is definitely a must-visit for anyone who loves good fruit and local products. Sticking with peaches, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.enoturismepenedes.cat\/es\/agenda\/visita-les-filos\">Les Filos<\/a>\u2014run by two sisters who one day decided to make peach jellies and syrups, \u201clike in the good old days,\u201d at their family property in Alt Pened\u00e8s\u2014is also somewhere fun to visit. You can see the workshop, stroll around the peach orchard, and taste all the jellies they make as part of food pairings.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Yacimiento Ib\u00e9rico de la Font de la Canya: la llegada del vino a nuestra casa\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/nmjfi9lV2gc?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>To get a delve deeper into the history of our region, we recommend a visit to the <a style=\"background-color: #ffffff;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.fontdelacanya.cat\/\">Font de la Canya<\/a> archaeological site\u2014one of the most important in Catalonia\u2014located in Avinyonet del Pened\u00e8s. It\u2019s home to an exhibition that\u2019s the result of 18 years of excavating, focused on the origin and arrival of wine in our land.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-22758\" src=\"https:\/\/jeanleon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/vinseum-850x567.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"850\" height=\"567\" \/><\/p>\n<p>One of the sites you can\u2019t miss in the Pened\u00e8s is<a style=\"background-color: #ffffff;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.vinseum.cat\/?cat\/Informacio\/Reserves\"> Vinseum<\/a>, the Museum for the Wine Culture of Catalonia. It\u2019s a space designed for visitors to be able to live and experience wine culture and everything that goes along with it. One of the highlights of the activities at Vinseum is <a style=\"background-color: #ffffff;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.vinseum.cat\/?cat\/Activitats\/Dialegs\/3\/81\/Enojazz\">Enojazz<\/a>, a pairing of wines and jazz that will be celebrating its 10<sup>th<\/sup> edition this year.<\/p>\n<p>Another interpretation center where you can dive into the history of the Pened\u00e8s is at <a style=\"background-color: #ffffff;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.enoturismepenedes.cat\/es\/que-visitar\/museos\/centre-dinterpretacio-del-castell-de-gelida\">Gelida Castle<\/a>, whose visitor center was built using part of the 14<sup>th<\/sup>-century castle structures. The building has two floors and features an information area, services and a store, as well as a permanent exhibition about the castle\u2019s history and significance.<\/p>\n<p>To learn more about our region, the <a style=\"background-color: #ffffff;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.enoturismepenedes.cat\/ca\/agenda\/histories-de-palau-0\">Royal Palace of Vilafranca del Pened\u00e8s<\/a> is also well worth a visit. It\u2019s an exciting day out for the entire family, where you can relive past episodes that took place in the Royal Palace buildings, guided by eight real historical characters. A fun, interesting option to find out what life was like in the palace centuries ago.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-22765\" src=\"https:\/\/jeanleon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/lesdeus-850x565.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"850\" height=\"565\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Another park\u2014but this time for adventures\u2014can be found between Vilafranca and Igualada. Called <a style=\"background-color: #ffffff;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.lesdeusaventura.cat\/cat\/informacio.php\">Parc Les Deus Aventura<\/a>, this an acrobatics park that allows visitors to experience new thrills out in the open. Canyoning, climbing courses, and vie ferrate are just some of the activities offered at this park located along the Mediona River.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-22771\" src=\"https:\/\/jeanleon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/Jean-Leon-Enoturismo_Nordic-Walking-3-850x567.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"850\" height=\"567\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To round off our recommendations, we suggest a visit to our Jean Leon winery, with your partner, your family, or friends, to enjoy some of the wide range of wine tourism options we have on offer, such as making your own wine, experiencing the amazing feeling of stomping grapes with your feet, or doing a tour through our majestic vineyards on a Segway, electric scooter, or Nordic walking.
