With the arrival of the good weather and the fact the days are longer and the evenings more pleasant, we\u2019ve gotten our cultural activities at the Visitor Center underway. The opening exhibition features works from artist Marie-France Veyrat, a selection of sculptures entitled \u201cAl\u00b7legories estructurades\u201d (\u201cStructured Allegories\u201d). Around 40 people were able to get a first-hand look at a display inspired by two of the most distinctive elements of our region: wine and <i>castells<\/i>, or human towers, in Veyrat\u2019s collection of around 20 sculptural pieces and six photographic works created as a tribute to the Pened\u00e8s.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-21084\" src=\"https:\/\/jeanleon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/a0b617f2-a6e0-4f86-a550-f70bb508e765-850x638.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"850\" height=\"638\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The exhibition opened last Friday and <b>will be on show until the end of June<\/b>. The opening also featured the participation of the Castellers de Vilafranca, a cultural and sporting association that builds human towers, as well as the winery\u2019s director Mireia Torres, who welcomed the attendees and offered them a glass of Jean Leon 3055 Chardonnay and Jean Leon 3055 Merlot-Petit Verdot. Once again, Torres emphasized the close relationship between Jean Leon and the art world, a link that in the past year has been highlighted with the earlier exhibitions \u201cMinotaure al Laberint\u201d (\u201cMinotaur in the Labyrinth\u201d) from Josep Maria Guinovart and the photo exhibition \u201cLa Vinya es vesteix de tardor\u201d (\u201cThe Vineyard Clad in Fall\u201d) from Maria Rose Ferr\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-21078\" src=\"https:\/\/jeanleon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/01aa0363-5df4-49f6-ab95-1b3bf2d509bd-850x638.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"850\" height=\"638\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">With the exhibition open, Marie-France Veyrat explained, \u201cThis exhibition is designed to pay tribute to the Pened\u00e8s, home to two outstanding phenomena: wine and <i>castellers. <\/i>Some sculptures are the result of artistic experiences around wine.\u201d Along with the words from the artist, the stars of the show were the <i>castells<\/i>. While the attendees sampled our Vinya Le Havre Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva 2011 and the experimental wine X-16 with artisan cheeses from local deli Xerigots, the Castellers de Vilafranca livened up with evening by building a human tower that put the finishing touch on a unique evening in the one-of-a-kind surroundings of our winery. It was an exclusive performance from one of the top <i>casteller<\/i> groups in our region.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-21092\" src=\"https:\/\/jeanleon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/1_Urbevi\u0301nica-850x567.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"850\" height=\"567\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>Veyrat: a committed and experienced artist<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Marie-France Veyrat is a multidisciplinary visual artist who works in an abstract style and stands out for her constant interest in researching and experimenting. She forays into different visual idioms such as textile art, painting, sculpture, installations, land art, and electronic art.<b> <\/b>Her works have been selected for and finalists in competitions, public institutions, and in national and international private collections, and she has also published three monographic book\/catalogs. On this occasion, she presents sculptures that are the result of different artistic experiences in the wine environment, accompanied by digital works that recall intense moments experienced by <i>casteller<\/i> groups.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>At Jean Leon, we continue to focus on our connection with art and culture.
