Everything was ready to receive our visitors, who were eager to enjoy an evening of wine, art and culture\u2014a magnificent combination with the work of artist Josep Guinovart as the centerpiece.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"&quot;The Minotaur in the Labyrinth&quot; - Guinovart &amp; Jean Leon\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/JGdX4FUh58Q?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><em>The Minotaur in the Labyrinth<\/em>, which will show at our winery until July 31th, was inaugurated by Mar\u00eda Guinovart, the artist&#8217;s daughter and curator of the exhibition, and Montserrat Camps, who holds a PhD in Classics and teaches Greek at the University of Barcelona. They were joined by Mireia Torres, Jean Leon&#8217;s director, who explained that the idea for the exhibition grew out of last year&#8217;s re-release of our Jean Leon Vinya La Scala Cabernet Sauvignon 1996, which features Guinovart&#8217;s painting <em>De la terra a la llum<\/em> [From earth to light] on the label. According to Mireia Torres, \u201cWe wanted to go a step further with Guinovart and offer our visitors and Jean Leon club members the chance to gain deeper insight into the work of this incredible artist.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>More than 50 guests attended the event and enjoyed a selection of nine paintings by the artist, made between 2001 and 2004, including <em>Minotauro<\/em> [Minotaur], <em>Mi animal<\/em> [My animal], <em>Laberinto<\/em> [Labyrinth], <em>D\u00f3nde est\u00e1s Ariadna<\/em> [Where are you Ariadne?] and <em>El hilo de Ariadna<\/em> [Ariadne&#8217;s thread]. Guinovart mainly worked with mixed media on canvas and chose a palette of predominantly blue, ochre and black hues for these paintings. The works represent a contemporary exploration of classic mythology rendered in an Informel style, which invite the spectator to delve into the Greek myth of the Minotaur. It is the story of Theseus, who ventures into the labyrinth designed by the craftsman Daedalus to slay a beast with the head of a bull and the body of man, and finds his way back out thanks to Ariadne.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2001\" src=\"https:\/\/jeanleon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Captura-de-pantalla-2017-06-28-a-las-17.40.38.png\" alt=\"Captura de pantalla 2017-06-28 a las 17.40.38\" width=\"683\" height=\"509\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After the inauguration, guests enjoyed a cocktail dinner amid the vineyards paired with our wines 3055 Chardonnay, X-15 (our experimental Xarel\u00b7lo), and the <em>reserva<\/em> Vinya Le Havre 2001, an old vintage with immense potential.<\/p>\n<p>A contemporary dance performance by the UnaiUna company, inspired by the story of the Minotaur, completed the magical evening\u2014a blend of art, wine and culture that once again reflected our close ties to the art world.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The sun was setting behind the vineyards of the Pened\u00e8s, bathing our winery in warm evening light.
