Why does a wine come in one bottle style or another<\/strong>? What is the reason for a particular design? At some point most of us have probably asked ourselves these questions while contemplating a bottle of wine. <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We might come up with an imaginary answer or develop our own theories, but we rarely ask the experts. In this post, we’d like to explain the design<\/strong> (and visual identity) of our Jean Leon wine<\/strong> range. Curious?<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Until 2012 we had a very different visual identity<\/strong>, which long-time appreciators of the brand will remember. The design was inspired by the look of traditional French wines. Understated, classic and elegant. <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

As time went by and the industry changed, we decided to reassess our brand positioning along with our visual identity. We introduced the claim \u201cA Man, A Time, A Wine\u201d<\/strong> to emphasize the powerful storytelling behind the brand and the essence of our wines, which draws on three core concepts: the real-life figure, his historical context and his wines. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In addition, our labels now featured characteristics that identify and set us apart<\/strong>: French varieties, Single Vineyard Wine classification, organic farming certification, and the fact that we are pioneers in the production of Spanish Cabernet Sauvignons. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We also decided to add the words \u201cSince 1963\u201d<\/strong> to our logo as a way of highlighting when the winery was founded and how long it has been in <\/span>existence. <\/span>In terms of typography, our entire wine range is inspired by 1950s and 1960s Americana with clear references to the world of cinema.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Now that we’ve explained the cornerstone of our brand positioning and the subsequent restyling of our designs, we’ll give you a brief overview of the elements that differentiate<\/strong> our wine ranges:<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

3055: a number with a story<\/b><\/h4>\n

 <\/p>\n

As daring and fresh as the three wines it represents: \u00a03055 Chardonnay, 3055 Ros\u00e9 and 3055 Merlot Petit-Verdot. Why 3055? Because it is a very meaningful and important number in Jean Leon’s life. 3055 was the number of his cab licence<\/strong>, one of the first jobs he got after arriving in New York.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Single Vineyard Wines: our most traditional range<\/b><\/h4>\n

 <\/p>\n

We now move on to our most traditional wines<\/strong>, the ones with the longest history: our Single Vineyard Wine range. Vinya Le Havre, Vinya Palau and Vinya Gigi. The label on these three wines features an iconic photo of Jean Leon.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

This is the first snapshot taken of him after reaching the US<\/strong>, and it marks the beginning of a new life and the culmination of two big dreams: opening one of the most exclusive restaurants in Hollywood and producing a wine range on a par with his select clientele.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

As for Vinya La Scala Cabernet Sauvignon Gran Reserva, the label<\/a> for each new vintage has always showcased the work of a renowned Catalan painter<\/strong>. As of the 2003 vintage, the artworks relate to the history of Jean Leon in some way.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

A good example is the label for the 2007 vintage, which features a painting by Josep Mart\u00ed Bofarull depicting the New York skyline<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
