Yes, this is it. What a treat. Fourteen wineries. Fourteen wines. Fourteen tapas by Sicilian chef Andrea Tumbarello, spectacular Barcelona views and an innovative concept: Speed Tasting.<\/span><\/p>\n

It seems like the wine world is finally adapting to modern-day society. It has paid attention and is trying to make a formerly inscrutable and insulated world\u2014the world of wine\u2014accessible and appealing.<\/p>\n

Winemakers, journalists, bloggers and wine enthusiasts gathered at the NH Collection Gran Hotel Calder\u00f3n for the third edition of Speed Tasting. The event, organized by Qualid\u00e8s in collaboration with Dinamic Comunicaci\u00f3 and the entertainment site <\/span>atr\u00e1palo.com<\/span>, was an absolute must for us. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Qualid\u00e8s?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Alright, one thing at a time. What is <\/span>Qualid\u00e8s<\/span><\/a>? This is how Mireia Torres, current president of Qualid\u00e8s, explained it to the guests. <\/span>\u201cQualid\u00e8s is an association of environmentally conscious winemakers who champion the character and quality of Pened\u00e8s wines, their identity and terroir, as well as the diverse landscape of a region with over 2500 years of winemaking history.\u201d <\/span>That sounds about right.<\/span><\/p>\n

Speed Tasting 16<\/strong><\/p>\n

An open-plan space hosted the fourteen participating wineries. Each one had its own table. Exquisite pairings\u2014a wine paired with a tapa by the masterful Tumbarello\u2014and six minutes per tasting. Expectations were high.<\/span><\/p>\n

Guests were divided into fourteen groups of four to six people. The two-person band <\/span>Groovin Twice<\/span> provided the soundtrack and set the pace. <\/span><\/p>\n

Every new melody let guests know that it was time to switch tables. \u00a0A new wine, a new winery, a new pairing, a new story. In short, a great concept.<\/p>\n

The participating winemakers and wines included the following:<\/span><\/p>\n
