In 1980, 35 years ago, Ronald Reagan<\/strong> became president of the United States of America<\/strong>. This was clearly a milestone in his life \u2013 and in the life of one of his good friends: Jean Leon<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The new American president<\/strong> and Jean Leon were friends. They had struck up a friendship during Reagan’s career as a Hollywood<\/strong> actor.<\/p>\n One day, Ronald Reagan promised Jean Leon that if elected president, he would serve his wine at the inauguration ceremony at the White House<\/strong>. He wasn’t joking. Reagan won the election, and several bottles of Cabernet Sauvignon Gran Reserva 1975<\/strong> were opened on January 20, 1981.<\/p>\n It was a gesture Jean Leon never forgot. Reagan had kept his word. Among the hundreds of important guests at the dinner, only the two of them knew that this truly was a toast to old friendships, which deepen over time.<\/p>\n This is why, 35 years later, we still remember. Ronald Reagan could have easily chosen a more established and well-known wine, but he didn’t. He had made a promise to a good friend, and keeping his word mattered more to him. A gesture which proves that friendship is like fine wine<\/strong>.
